Stealth prototype - Adaptive AI vs Non-Adaptive
A downloadable game for Windows
Explanation - What is this for?
As a part of my studies I was required to carry out a mini thesis, research, literature review comparison results etc.
Hence I had to create this prototype for the thesis, where I gathered results and compared which AI performed better.
Stats are saved in C:\Users\{user}\AppData\LocalLow\bwop\StealthPrototype
The file you should check out is sessionStats_completed.json.
This page serves as an archival of the game rather than an actual early release. I do not intend in updating this game.
How to play the game
Controls:
- WASD - Move Player
- Mouse - Look around
- Left control - Hold this down to crouch
- Left shift - Hold this to sprint
- Left click - turn lighter on or off
- E - to interact with objects
- Right click - stuns all nearby enemies if close enough
The crosshair turns green to indicate if an item can be interacted with.
You can hide in lockers to avoid enemies.
The eye on top represents if you are in light or not.
You have a stamina bar that regenerates on its own.
To record stats you must do the following:
- Leave the first room, this will start the timer and stat recordings.
- Reach the final room. The level is very short and linear once you reach the final room it will restart the level and log your stats. (Deaths do not restart stats)
If at any moment you leave the game any logs that were partially logged will still be saved but in a separate json file. (sessionStats_incomplete.json)
Enemies will simply roam around randomly, until they hear you (movement makes sound) or see you. Then they will chase you unless you die or escape them.
I highly suggest you play Non-Adaptive as in my experience it was much more fun.
The adaptive AI "cheat" they use your stats against you. For example prolonged chases will result in faster running speeds or for example the more times you use a locker the more likely they become to kick you out of your hiding place. Patrol patterns change according to stealth time etc.
